I saw a similar issue here: http://www.fixya.com/cars/t15546926- 2003_kia_sorento_lx_stuck_in_4wd_low. The solution from the OP's tow-truck driver was to put the Sorento in reverse for ~20 feet, then they could change the 4WD selector. Another person on that thread recommended putting the Sorento in Neutral + Emergency Break to switch from 2WD to 4WH / 4WL, not Park.
