99 tarus engine swap

Sure, but a BIG pain. Try getting a hold of an SVT Taurus V8 and trans. Optional motors are the easier ones to swap, because of 100% factory made parts.
if you want to compeletely tear your car apart and reconfigure the drivetrain to fit a 289, it would be better to just go ahead and buy a different car. the only engines tht would be able to fit in a 96-99 Taurus would be the 3.0 OHV V6, 3.0 DOHC V6, and the 3.4 DOHC Yamaha V8 found in the SHO models, there is speculation that the V8 out of a lincoln continental will fit, if you really want to do an engine swap, find a wrecked 96-99 SHO, and pull the whole front subframe and electrics and put it into your 99. check out www.taurusclub.com you will find more information on the taurus/sable.
sure it's possible but it would be a lot of work and fabrication. don't let the negative guys discourage you though, taurus' are cheap so why not give it a try, i would. physically there is plenty of room under the hood for the small block. steering would be a big issue though as the taurus rack attaches to the firewall right where your bellhousing will be. you might want to look into the V8 focus swap, not because the parts will fit but it deals with a lot of the same issues you're going to have and you can get some ideas of how to deal with steering and attatching a rear diff.
