Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car was not starting the other day and there has been symptoms of the alternator going bad so I did buy a new one and it did make my car start running again! with only one small problem its idling at 500-600 Rpm when it used to run at about 900-1000Rpm. when I go to put it in to drive it almost dies dropping rpm to about 200-300 rpm and sometimes it just dies! what could be the problem?

no check engine light although the battery was disconnected for some time because of changing the alternator so it may have just reset

yeah, when my iacv went out it would do the same as you described, then id just unplug the battery and it would reset and be fine
