2018 gmc terrain oil change amount requirement

This vehicle is 2.0L L4 Gas Engine AWD.
Owners manual states 6.0 qt capacity.
Does the entire capacity drain when changing oil & filter, or will a 5 qt container do the trick for refilling the oil?

Put 5 in it and start the engine, shut it off and check the oil level. I am betting it will be 1 quart low.

Why are you changing the oil? The 2018 Terrain comes with Two Maintenance Visits: Oil and Filter & 4 Wheel tire rotation. See GMC 2018 Terrain window sticker under Standard Equipment.
