Why dose White Smoke come out
Asked by Adolfo Jun 28, 2020 at 10:45 PM about the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS Coupe RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Ok I know I shouldn't of but I did I took my 2018
Camaro SS to jiffy lube to get an oil change with
11,000 miles all they did was change filter an oil so
here's the problem as I left jiffy lube I noticed in my
driver mirror a white cloud of smoke as I gave it
gas my first thought they might of over filled it but I
checked it's good now I have a vitesse throttle
controler on my car I noticed that it was messed
with I assumed they pressed the botton thinking it
was the engine start botton because I looked at it
it was set on ECO 0 an I had it set on SP5 witch is
the sensitivity of the throttle controller anyways I
put it back to the position I had driving down the
highway I coming to town slowing down give it gas
White cloud of smoke comes out again so any
ideas or suggestions why the white cloud of
smoke would come out????I disconnected the
throttle controller today took it on the highway
came into town press the gas an still a white cloud
came out

Just did the engine is still hot but it's so clear I thouched the dipstick I can see a little shine on my finger would that cause white smoke?could bad gas cause white smoke??
I would change the oil and filter again. Do it yourself or take it to someone you trust to put in the right oil.
seems like there is synthetic oil there. i do my own oil and i use 2 quarts amsoil synth and the rest mobile 1 synth. yours will have 10 quarts total put in. if you see too much water coming out of your tail pipe, i'd say bad gas. lately i got a reduced engine power light (30sec) due to bad fuel on a fast pass.
God only knows what they put in your engine! Could be transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, who knows! Change the oil and filter, drive it for a few days and change the oil and filter a second time to be sure whatever they put in there is out of the engine! Use a good quality name brand oil that's recommended in your owner's manual. Use a good quality name brand oil filter too! Hope that helps! Jim
So if it's bad gas how do I drain it?? It's half a tank
If it were bad gas it would have been smoking before you went to Jiffy Lube. Unless you bought gas after your visit to Jiffy Lube. Hope that helps! Jim
Darn no I gased it up before I headed to jiffy lube hmm well they called me to take the car back on Thursday so there so called tech can look at it
Well, good luck with that. It's good they're going to take a second look for you. Ask if anyone there is ASE certified. If not, in my opinion, they're not qualified to work on your vehicle! Please keep us posted on this! I, for one, will be curious as to how this turns out. The other thing to consider is this may be a powertrain warranty issue. If so, GM will balk at you taking it to Jiffy Lube. Jim
Document everything as Jiffy Lube may owe you an engine.
Well fellas ended up being they were sloppy when they removed the oil filter an some of the oil that was draining fell into the side of the exhaust manifold lucky I drove it a couple of hrs on the highway to burn the the Remaning oil that fell unbelievable never again!!
Oh wow! That's really something! Thanks for letting us know! Very glad that's all it was!! Jim
glad it was only that.. you should use 91 oct. best fuel for it.
Thanks guys appreciate the help I'm definitely going to use 91
