Selling a car for a deceased family member

Or the executor of Mom's Estate. The Laws on this vary from State to State so the person authorized to sell the vehicle to settle the estate will have to visit the local motor vehicle agency to find out the procedure for the title transfer. In NJ, for example, the executor must have a copy of the Power of Attorney, and the death certificate to give to the buyer along with the title. The executor signs their name as the seller with the word "executor" printed next to the signature. Your State may vary. Hope that helps! Jim
