can i get some transmission advice?

Asked by Jessey May 04, 2020 at 01:58 PM about the 1998 Ford Expedition 4 Dr XLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

so when i first got it i had noticed that it revved up higher then my other
expedition did before starting to move and it just seemed to be getting worse
until one day i let my wife take it to the store cause i was doing a tune up on
her expedition (we love expeditions) and she said she pulled up to the light
and when it turned green she went to go and it just revved up like it was in
neutral. What could of happen to it? i am thinking torque converter but i am
not sure.

low fluid level to an internal issue, which means a rebuild. On a 98 expedition, you are lucky you got this far. Usually those transmission fail a lot sooner.

TDolby so you dont think it could be the torque converter. I know it's not low fluid because i have replace the old fluid that was in there when I first picked it up. I didn't see any metal flakes in the old ATF when i drained it nor was there any in the bottom of the pan.
