Rear power sliding door issue

Asked by MPV20052024 Aug 09, 2024 at 07:48 AM about the 2005 Mazda MPV ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We recently bought a 205 MPV ES, and once in awhile the rear power slider
will close about 90%, then re open itself. Doesn't do it all the time though. I
believe we are the 3rd owners, and the last owner had kids who trashed the
inside with food, drinks etc. Anyways, is there a sensor on these doors that
would cause the door to open and close by itself? Also, what's a good way to
clean and lube the top and bottom tracks?

First treat all the moving parts, latches and slides with WD 40, then let it soak in for a few days making sure you use the door as it was designed to be used. Then wipe it all down and clean the tracks, rollers and slides as much as possible, then use some garage spring and track lube on everything that moves like listed above making sure you wipe off the excess. Then see if that helps. Yes there are sensors in that door, if it senses something is not aligned right or a foreign object in the doors movement it will open the door. You must make certain that it is aligned right and nothing is binding. If you still having trouble with it not working correctly then it’s time for a professional to have a look at it. Things do wear out and this is a much older vehicle.
