how do release the gas cap cover when it is broken? on mazda 3

when I pulled into gas station this morning my release leaver would not open the door that covers my gas cap would not release.  is there an override.  I need gas?

There should be a release handle in the trunk. It's usually on a cable.

In the rear trunk there is an area where you can access the inside of. gas door. You can release it manually
