I’m having the same issue. 4400 miles on a 2.0 touring. Shouldn’t happen.

I also just had the same issue with my Honda Accord 2018 base model. I had popped the trunk open and placed two bags in the trunk, my trunk was already filled to begin with other stuff so it was kind of packed. I tried to close it and the same beeping and re-opening of the trunk was on-going. I thought maybe my key fob trunk button might have been jammed. Then I took out one of the bags that was in the middle and it closed. I'm thinking there's some sort of sensor that needs to unobstructed for it to close. Idk, hope this helps.

Make sure your spare key fob isn’t inside one of the bags inside the trunk. It’s the “anti-kidnapping” feature.

I had the same issue. “ Frazier” exactly right. Spare key fob in my bag. Frustrating.

Thanks Frazier Damon! My trunk kept on popping open even though there was barely anything in it. Then I read you post and realized my key fob was in my bag in the trunk. I took the key out and the trunk closed like normal. Good to know the “anti- kidnapping” feature works!

hey guys the remote on my 2017 honda accord can no longer open or pop up my trunk, but it opens the doors and locks them.

Thank you so much Frazier! My husband placed the spare key in his bag in the trunk that’s why it won’t closed. We got this Accord only yesterday.... grateful for this info.

Had the same issue when loading my luggage for my Ski trip. As it turns out, I had a spare set of keys in my bags so the trunk wouldn’t close. Removed my keys and the trunk closed

I have a 2106 that we just bought used. Is there a way to override that feature? My wife will sometimes put her purse in the trunk so it's not under her feet, especially on long car trips. Seem like it should recognize the fact that the other fob is in the passenger area of the car and allow the trunk to close.

When I found out the solution to my problem (fob in trunk) it was so funny.

this happened to me yesterday, but I had the fob in my pocket, and spare was in the house, not trunk. So there appears to be more than one issue with the beeping/trunk keeps popping open. Going on a golf trip, and this is making me very anxious, as I don't know how to resolve.

You can override it by holding the trunk down and it will beep continuously and lock.

Thank you Frazier! He is correct. Car key shouldn't be left on the trunk

I just had the same problem on my 2019 and I had to hit the trunk button on the fob a few times so the latch would reactivate and was fixed

Trunk keeps popping open while driving. No spare key in trunk. Honda dealer and factory said they can’t do anything NOT ACCEPTABLE! Do not buy a Honda Accord!!!!!

This was very helpful. It took me 1 hour to search and find the problem. Come to find out, I had my extra key fobs in my bags (luggage) and it would shut to save my life. Very Helpful, Thanks for Posting. JG

Who knew...having the spare key fob stored in the back will cause the trunk to beep and then open. When you take the fob out it closes no problem...throw it back in and it beeps and opens. You can over-ride the opening mechanism by holding the trunk closed for a few seconds or until the beeping stops...but the mystery was solved when finding the spare fob in the trunk.
