Alarm goes off by itself

Asked by Patjav Jun 24, 2018 at 06:54 AM about the 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T Sport FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought the new honda accord for a few months, and
recently the alarm went off for itself for several times. The
first time it went off was at night, so i thought someone
just tried to do something on my car. However, now it
goes off regularly like 3 times in a day. Really annoying.
Anyone knows the issues, please help...

Patjav, Did you ever figure this out. My daughter's 2018 Honda Accord Sport's alarm goes off often. It's under camera at the house so I know that no one is touching it. Taking it to the dealer next week but would like to have prior knowledge before I show up with it.

We are having some problem. Honda can not figure out. Replaced hood latch and no help

Honda replaced the Hood Alarm switch and corrected the problem. The switch was making the car alarm believe that the hood was being opened while alarmed.

I have same problem with 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour. On nights with temp falling to around 60 degrees Farenheit, the alarm goes off without any good reason, waking everybody up in the neighborhood. How can I turn off the alarm temporarily? In the Internet there are procedures for totally disabling the alarm, that is not what I want to do, I want to diasable it only temporarily, I don’t have the problem when the car is parked in a garage or in warm nights.

I have a 2018 Honda Accord LX & I’m so annoyed right now. The alarm first went off at my job on yesterday so I figured someone was messing with my car so I get home last night & was cleaning up & it went off like 3 more times by it self so I figured it was maybe the battery in the keypad or some. NOPE!! This morning it has went off like 4 times . I went outside, check n close the doors n trunk & 20 mins later it went back off again. It’s crazy me nuts now. I’m taking it to the dealer today. I really think it’s the Weather you guys also, normally when I use my keypad to lock my doors the alarm will beep but now when I do it, the alarm doesn’t even sound but I can hear the doors clicking like it’s locking ‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️

My alarm also goes off 9 out 10 times when I close the trunk - just a single set of beeps. Also does this when closing a door. Appears to not matter if the car is locked or not. Honda really needs to look into solving this and put out a recall. As a woman I feel uncomfortable if I'm in a parking garage or lot and close the trunk and the alarm beeps, afraid that could draw attention from someone with bad intentions.

My 2009 is have the alarm going off usually at night, starting in the fall. I was told to grease the doors, hood latch and rear hatch. Was fine no alarm problem for 2 months until this week once on Monday, and Tuesday went and had the police here think a break in, no just the darn alarm going off 5 times with in few hours.

I had this issue with my Honda Civic 2010. Here is the reason why and a quick fix solution until you repair it: Reason: The Switch D Elatch from the hood detect an open loop, so the hood latch need to be replaced. Quick Fix: You can put the key in the starter of your car, this way it will disable the alarm, it won't lock you out. This will allow you to sleep until you can put it in a garage near you. I just hope you live in a safe neighborhood. Good luck!

If pressing the key fob twice does not sound the alarm..then the battery is probably weak and needs to be replaced. The hood switch and trunk switch can cause problems especially in cooler temps and sometimes in very hot temps after the sun drops. Try Chris's answer,,,open hood and trunk use the fob to lock the doors, then unlock the doors shut the hood and trunk a little harder then normal and re-lock the doors and wait and see. If it happens again go to the dealer...there is a switch that needs replacing.

This just happened with my 2008 Accord Sedan. The alarm went off without for no reason throughout the night (mid-October, temps are dropping) to the point where I ended up sleeping holding my fob with my thumb on the unlock button to quickly turn the alarm off. I tried looking up how to completely disengage the anti-theft system and the only promising thing is dealing with wires, which I don't want to risk. Getting frustrated.

Hi folks I have reached complete frustration. 2 dealerships, 2 outside honda dealers and 2 alarm specialist. The last dealership swore they looked at the log and noticed the last alarm trigger was the hood latch! So wala brand new hood latch. Now 20days later i happened to be outside walking when I heard a car alarm. I started running and in my private garage wala it was going off. I'm so deflated. 2016 honda fit

I have a 2017 Honda Civic. My alarm went off about a month ago while parked in the garage. Key Fob doesn't work, manual key will not unlock the door either. Trunk will open with handle when you have the key fob. Husband crawled through the trunk and unlocked the car and turned on the car and alarm stopped. A couple of hours later it did it again. He finally disconnected the battery so we could sleep and then reconnected it in the morning. Didn't have the problem anymore until now. Tonight it is doing the same thing. Hoping someone from one of these old posts can tell me what to do and wondering why the manual key won't open the door while alarm is going off? Manual key works when alarm is not going off.

Hey everyone! Seems we are all going through or have gone through this crap with our Honda’s. I have a 2017 Honda Civic. Bought it new. Had some issues here and there after I bought it but this alarm going off or dashboard turning on on its own are two the most common problems with my car. Brought my car to Honda and they said my ECU needed to be replaced and that it would cost $1000 to do so. I unfortunately was out of warranty by years but not mileage so they wouldn’t cover it for me. Took my car to a different mechanic and replaced my ECU. That worked temporarily but now my car is back in the shop and it’a not the ECU. Please help! What helped for you? I just want to trade this car in and be over with Honda.

Hi folks after months of frustration I was in the garage one night and I had my phone handy to catch the demon in my car. I got a video of the dash lights flickering on and off without the ignition going on. This led to finally honda seeing I am not crazy. They basically replaced the computer 800 bucks UGH forgot the exact name. Also a week ago I got a letter that my ignition switch has an extended warranty. Hmmmm. So far it has been a few weeks everything seems normal BUT I still leave my car parking with my phone number on my window shield incase the shit starts going off again.

Hey everyone, I wish I could come on and just give an end all answer but I can tell you what I think on what to do regarding our alarms. I am currently in college and the first time my 2011 accord went off it was 4am and continued till I could shut it off at 10am. For a temporary fix is to disconnect the terminal from the battery. Now if you do this you may have to get a six digit number to allow access to your radio. For me I disconnected the hood latch from the electrical cord that runs the security system. This tricks the car into thinking the hood is always closed. To remove the hood latch to get to the cord use a 10mm wrench to release the bolts. For me my alarm went off tonight as I was going to bed. I have reason to believe my trunk latch is faulty. I am going to try to do the same process with the trunk and see if that works too since my battery light is not on and I can unlock and lock my car from 50 yards away. Good luck hope this helps cause for me, I didn't have it.
