Mazda Tribute v6 runs but won't idle when cold outside

I own a 2003 Mazda Tribute V6.
Twice this winter, outside temps
were below 10°F, I tried to start
the engine. It fired right up but
died immediately. I can hold the
throttle open and it'll stay running.
As soon as I let off it dies. Was
able to hold the throttle open till it
started to warm up but would idle
very low, first hash mark on the
tachometer. Drove home, 8 min
drive, shut it off. Fired it back up
and it's fine. The engine light
never came on.
