My husband just bought the cheap CRV and no CD player. THAT SUCKS! AND you can't even get Sirius on this model. I hate the thing! I'll take a Ford any day but I wasn't given a choice.
There is a long thread on this subject. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion- c26423_ds787035#msg686668
Cause cars are being built for people my age now a days, we are automotive manufacturers biggest customers, and millennials do not listen to CD's anymore. we use our phones for bluetooth streaming. hence the apple carplay and android auto.
I guess its out to the ice floe for us Neanderthals then?
Love Honda CRVs. We finally found exactly what we wanted. The 2019 Touring in dark olive. And then found out no cd player. Where we live we do not always get radio reception. So no green 2019 for us. So sad. Bye to Honda!
As an owner of a fantastic CD collection and not wishing to deal with UB port, cables or other shenanigans I was thinking of getting the new 2019 Honda CRV since I have an older Lexus model on the way out, to my chagrin, I discovered Honda cars and SUVs do not have CD players. It's goodbye Honda!! Hello, once again Lexus! I reckon Honda is going to lose lots of costumers like me to other car brands that carry CD players, big mistake Honda!!
While I will miss using CDs on my 19 CRV--most of the stuff i love is loaded on my spotify and it is a lot less of a hassle to deal with than CD's. The times they are a changin.
I think the 20 somethings don't really listen to quality music so it doesn't bother them as much. Most of the singers now are auto-tuned in recording. There are no real instruments in the background that would be missed...or that can't be filled in with technology. They live for a good beat which is fine sometimes. Unfortunately, they don't know the value of listening to a live recording of voices and instruments with the realistic qualities created by challenging acoustics and human imperfections. I miss my CD player.
Buy a Volkswagen, call Miss Woodie at Ralph Thayer Volkswagen in Livonia Michigan @ 734-744-2188
Buy a Volkswagen at Ralph Thayer Volkswagen in Livonia Michigan, ask for Ms. Woodie, @ 734-744-2188, Volkswagen you can still get your CD Player
If I would have only known ! My Dad and I both bought CR-V's he really doesn't care about the CDPlayer cause he uses XM and at 95 he really doesn't have a collection.. My Mom had somewhat of a collection 30s & 40 stuff and country with a few miscellaneous ones. I inhereted her albums,CDs and cassettes which I really enjoy listening to. Frank Sinatra , Dean Martin, Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and the list goes on and on! I really miss the CD PLAYER In my 2020 CR-V ! But I do see that CRUTCHFIELD has some that are portable and plug i into a USB PORT. They look like it will fit into your center console but I'm not sure.

The CD player did not disappear just because millennials are tethered to their cellphones. You can't just grab a CD and hop in the car any more because Honda is in bed with Sirius and wants to add another monthly charge to your credit card. And to those who claim "all you have to do is transfer your CDs to a thumb drive".....Only a person working for Honda would say that. First of all you have to walk out to the car grab the thumb drive, walk back into your house and than transfer the CD. Windows Media Player no longer auto-detects CD info so the album will go onto the thumb drive as "unknown." Then you might find that the thumb drive is incompatible with the CRV's USB input. Some thumb drives work but others do not. It seems that Honda USB inputs can only detect thumb drives with certain file systems and certain drive capacities. After all of this hassle many will give in and sign up for Sirius. Honda did none of us any favors by removing the CD player. Honda did a big favor for big business by taking the CD player away.
They now make an aftermarket CD player that plugs into the USB port. https://www.amazon.com/Automotive-Integrated-Electronics-Connection- USBCDPLAY1/dp/B07DHXY5X3/ref=sr_1_2? dchild=1&keywords=Automotive+Integrated+Electronics+OE+Integrated+Vehicle+CD+Play er+via+USB+radio+connection+%28USBCDPLAY1%29&qid=1593032156&sr=8-2

Yeah...for a whooping $350! I listen to Books on CD and was extremely upset when I got home with my 2019 Touring and discovered no CD player! My first CR-V had a 6- D changer so I actually never even dreamt this new one world be minus that feature! I love my car but hate there's no CD player and agree Honda made a big mistake. Most younger people wouldn't be caught driving a Honda CR-V anyway so appealing to younger generation is bogus but being tied to Sirius is more realistic. Bad move, Honda.
I've been hating life ever since I bought my 2019 CRV, which by the way, I do love my car, it's my 3rd CRV, and I do love the dependability of Honda - but WTF is my CD player? I'm female, 66, still out here working to keep a roof over our heads, and I don't ask for a lot! I noticed the absence of the CD player when sitting in the front seat on the lot, and really thought (after listening to younger folks tell me how easy the task would be) that I could transfer all my music easily to a thumb drive or do something which would give me access to my CD collection (1000+), so I went ahead and made the purchase. And I do sign-up for Sirius every year, for listening to new music and artists, which I will then buy a CD, though now, I'm not buying at all - cause I can't play them! Dear HONDA, if you are listening, please return the CD player for us Baby Boomers - we are still very much in the game, I promise to buy another CRV as soon as you do! thank you, mh

I looked at both the CR-V and Forester, but the lack of an available CD player or aux. port was the deciding factor in my purchase of a Subaru.

And us baby boomers have been supporting Honda for decades! And we often pay cash for our vehicles? Is that why we are no longer catered to???? Hating my CRV still after 2 years!

I love my 2013 CRV and was ready to buy a newer model only to find out that they no longer come standard with a CD player! I agree, BIG MISTAKE, Honda!!! I have tons of CDs and love listening to them in the car. Honda, please put CD players back in your CRVs. I will no longer purchase a CRV unless they come with a CD player.

Download Apple iTunes (on Apple OR Windows computer). Add your CD's to your computer. Now you can listen to ALL your CD's from your computer. Next, download iTunes to your cellphone. Then connect your phone to ApplePlay or the similar Android app in the Honda CRV. I am a BabyBoomer born in 1951, and my entire CD library has been in my computer since about 2005. I was not an early adopter. You all are about 15 or more years behind the times. Younger people ARE listening to music with no Sirius and no CD's in the car... from iTunes. I have thousands of albums on my phone with FULL sound detail. I also listen to Audible on my phone... digital books. ALL with excellent audio quality. The only downside is that when buying new CD's, they have to be downloaded to the computer, then to the phone. The way around that is to buy through iTunes, but you are only allowed 3 transfers to new devices, then you need to buy again. Purchasing CD's gives you lifetime access to music you purchase.

I traded in our 2009 Honda and bought a 22 Honda CR-V, but I'm really dissatisfied with the lack of a CD player. The Apple iTunes/car play feature is not satisfactory for me. I'm looking at other brands like Subaru that still have some options for cd players...
