Weight Distribution Hitch

Asked by Audrey Jan 22, 2019 at 11:35 AM about the 2019 Subaru Ascent Premium 8-Passenger AWD

Question type: Car Customization

With the Subaru Ascent Premium we want to tow
the Airstream Sport 22. It has a dry weight of 3463
and a GVWR of 4500. Many other TV use a Weight
Distribution Hitch, but Subaru’s Manuel (page 398)
says not to. We’re wondering why not, if it’s
supposed to help with stability.

Call up Subaru of America. Weight distributing hitches don't stabilize unless you add a stabilizer. You may be able to add sway control without the weight distribution. Ask you local RV dealer.

Any follow up with your situation? Did you end up with the equalizer hitch? I'm facing a similar situation.
