While shifting in 5th gear wouldn't go into gear or any gear. with ign. on and when pushing in clutch and trying to push start, it acts like its in gear. Only shifts thru gears with ign. off.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had no signs of anything wrong with truck... No fluids leaking, no slipping of tranny,
no noises of any kind and all fluids are full, but while I was driving and shifting into 5th
gear the clutch went all the way to floor and wouldn't go into gear. As I coasted and
was slowing down tried to shift into all gears but wouldn't go into any gear and acted
like there was no clutch. Now, the truck will shift into all gears as long as the ignition is
off, but when I turn the key on, it will not roll with clutch in and it will not go into any
gears, acts like it is in gear though. Tried to start it in gear but it wore the battery
down.

Sounds like something in the clutch system failed. Is the clutch fluid full? Usually a failure in the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder can cause this problem. Also there could be an issue with the clutch throw out bearing or the pressure plate. I would check the clutch fluid and take a close look at the clutch slave cylinder at the bell housing.

Is the clutch pedal connected to the tranny with a cable? What you describe is exactly what happens when a clutch cable breaks- good luck
