RATTLE/GRINDING NOISE !!!!
Asked by Ramirez28 Jan 19, 2019 at 12:52 AM about the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox 2.0T Premier FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2019 2.0L fwd equinox Premier bout
it with 2 miles on it and after driving the
vehicle about 800 miles I started to hear this
Raddle noise coming from the shift area
when i came to a stop and on Drive position
and the vehicle running. It quit for a day or so
when it started doing again, its a come and
go thing. So i took it back to Dealership and
they had to reach GM techs because they
couldn’t figure out what was causing that.
GM said its related to the High pressure fuel
system and that its normal. Is there anybody
that has the same thing going on with theirs?
I don’t believe GM since the Techs told me
that the checked other vehicle on their lot
and nun of them did What’s mine doing. I
also test drove a few and they don’t do it.
HELP PLEASE!!

Its schedule to go in next week, hopefully this dealership can figure out what’s causing this rattle.
same issue here. It started yesterday after having the car for a week. this is a 2008 model with 12000 miles on it. I hear a fait noise and also noticed that the gear shift vibrates.
Dealership found a wire line that was rubbing against a shield around the shifter. Don’t know exactly where the line comes from or goes to but they re routed and the rattle is go. I’ll try to find the invoice and give you an exact description of the work that was done. Tech mentioned some similar problem is caused by exhaust system vibrating against a heat shield.
For some reason your reply isn’t showing here but I got it on my email. Thank you! Im looking forward for any extra info or advice then I’ll schedule a visit as well.
Hey, did you find that invoice by any chance? I'm planning on scheduling a visit for this Saturday. This noise is very annoying plus I'm also afraid it might end up damaging something else. No big deal if you can't find it though. You already helped a whole lot!
No luck finding it. Sorry, I'm sure if you mention that to the dealership tech he will have an idea Of what you’re talking about. I can forward you a video of what my vehicle was doing, just email me your email. Ramirez2892@gmail.com
Did you find the source of the rattle on the 2019 2.0? I have the same issue and have been back 3 times.
It ended up being some sort of wire line that runs by the shifter that was caused that rattle. That line was re-routed and hasn’t done that noise since then
I was having the same issue and my husband found it! It was the exhaust heat shield under the passenger seat on the under carriage of the vehicle there was a bolt loose!! Fixed now and no more rattling!!!
Hey I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue I've contact the dealer and I have an appointment 2/24/20 I'll keep you updated on the outcome
Same issued here! 2019 Equinox fwd. Took to the dealership today, they said (direct quote from invoice): "waiting on GM for a solution/updated parts to fix this concern". So essentially, I think they don't want to spend the time & money paying a dealership tech in trying to find & fix something as nebulous as a rattle under warranty. They want an easy, immediate answer. To truly diagnose something like this would take a lot more time than 1 hr of tech and service bay time. Take your vehicles back to GM time after time if you can, keep complaining about it. Make them spend the time and money under warranty so they HAVE to spend the time and $ under warranty until it gets so expensive for them to keep getting it into their system that they ACTUALLY do something about it.
I had the same problem with my 2019 at 3900 miles. I won arbitratio and got a replacement 2020 that syarted rattling atc130 miles. G M will tell youbanything. One service advisor told me that my glasses were moving in the top console and the noise was ricocheting to the left speaker atea. She might as well had called me stupid. GM fors not know where those noises are coming from. I am fighting eith them now. File for the Lemon Law.
I'm hearing a sound like it's fire crackers under my equinox is this what everyone else is hearing? It sounds like coming from underneath the car but it did stop for a couple of days and then, started again but now my light for the battery charging system light is on any suggestions?
I purchased a used 2019 AWD Equinox with 22k miles on it. It has the 4 cylinder turbo engine. I noticed the noise during the test drive but I thought it was the turbo because it was only at low speed under acceleration. I did purchase the vehicle. After 3 months I decided to have the dealership check out the noise. It took them some time to sort of diagnose it. They ended up flushing the transmission and refilling to proper level. Tech said fluid may not have been filled to the correct level. The noise did go away for about 2months. It is now back. The vehicle is parked in the same spot each day, and I didn’t notice any spots on the driveway that would indicate a leak. Whatever it is, it doesn’t seem to affect performance, but it can’t be normal. Time to get it back to the dealership.
