Do you have a voltmeter? If you don't you should get one. You can find a cheap one at a Harbor Freight store and it will work just fine. With a voltmeter check your battery, while the car is turned off. The voltage from one terminal to the other should be around 12.6V. If it is less than 12.4V the battery is probably no good. Check to make sure the battery is clean, and that there is no corrosion on the battery or battery cables and ensure good connections. Can you describe what circumstances produce the different voltage readings? I.E. driving at night with the lights on, hot weather, cold weather, etc.
