Cyclic noise in drive belt area
On my 2003 Outlander (2.0L gas engine) , I have a cyclic noise (kind of "tchip, tchip, tchip,...") at approximately 6 Hz, coming from the accessory drive belt area, when the engine is running at idle. With a chalk mark on the belt I checked that this noise is perfectly synchronized with full revolutions of the belt. So it is not correlated at all with any of the pulleys. I also checked that the noise is not affected by the use of power steering, air conditioning or front lights. The drive belt has been replaced 18 months and 24000 km (15000 miles) ago and looks perfect on both sides and on the edges. Does anyone has an idea of the origin of this noise ? Thank you for your help.
