Overheating

My car heats up after accelerating to 80 I have to
slow down that way the temp could go down..
since I placed the license plate in the center gap of
the bumper I'm thinking it doesn't cool the radiator
as fast..... any suggestions

Have you checked the coolant level in the radiator/overflow tank? Was your water pump replaced with your timing belt the last time it was done? Are your cooling fans noticably coming on when your engine is up to full operating temp or when your A/C is on? (they usually sound like a jet taking off when they're working right on the eclipse platform, haha)

Coolant is ok...water pump and timing belt has been changed not that long ago also bought new thermostat and radiator cap....I burped the system but I dnt know if it's the right way to do it..... that's why I was asking if it could be the license plate stopping air flow towards the radiator

I believe the fans are not working correctly. If I turn air conditioning on have no overheating only time I have problem is in winter time with heat on. 2004 eclipse 2.4
97Dodge, check to see if the fans will turn on. If they don't, its possible. Some vehicles automatically turn the fans on when the AC is on. You may have a bad sensor or relay.
