99 eclipse 2.0 5 speed.... speedometer and odometer not working

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drove to my mom's (about 50 minutes from me)
and everything was working fine. I get in to take her
to the store and notice my speedometer and
odometer isn't working. I have looked at my vss
and the plastic gear inside and notice nothing
wrong. Any ideas? I have also seen that the plastic
gear should come out but mine is like .0002 mm
too big to fit through the hole where the vss goes.
Please help

Update:I changed the vss and it worked for all of 2 weeks. Now it's just the speedometer not working. The odometer and the rpms work. It's just the speedometer. Any ideas?

I have same problem since 3 weeks ago. Odometer and speedo doesn't work. odometer reads 1 mile for every 30 miles i drive, but speedo doesn't moves at all. My car eclipse GS 1999 manual trans 420A OZ Rally edition. Looking for solution
