Alt belt broke, replaced No start
I have a 96 Mits Eclipse 5spd Non Turbo.
My Alternator belt broke 7/4.
When the belt broke I was in 3rd I lost all drive
power instantly, zero acceleration, (my 1st instant
thought was it jumped time, again! It did this once
years ago when a idler pulley broke) I down shifted
to 2nd, went into gear fine, my RPMS was dropping
FAST, still no accelleration, I coasted &made it
luckily to a safe place where I could leave it until
the next day. On 7/5 The alt belt was wrapped
around behind the CrankShaft Pulley, against the
engine block. Got it unwound & a new Alt belt
replaced. Everything is put back in place. My other
belts Timing & Power steering are fine.
Car WONT crank!
Fuel pump is cutting on, Battery has (had) full
charge, its brand new! (I literally only drove like a
football fields length before I lost all forward
motion)
Infact Ive tried to crank it so much Ive nearly
drained the battery. (I was desperate it was my
Birthday and I just wanted my Car Baby to CRANK!)
Ive got a full tank of Fuel, New Battery (its on
charge now), Starter is fine (I did, yes I did Im old
school in someways. I DID take a screwdriver and
jump the starter solenid, to see IF it had anything
to do with the Neutral Safety Switch or anything
before the starter in the elect system back to the
key switch. Car spun over FINE but still would NOT
crank.)
I had to have it towed home. :( Some Happy
Birthday. Not to mention the next day my Fiancee &
I was supposed to take Red out and take our
Engagement pics. Everything has just went so
wrong!)
Ive had this car 17 years Red my baby. Im not a
hardcore mechanic but I do know a lot for a
Female! Its the whole reason I bought my 2020
Eclipse Cross. Ok so maybe I'm crazy. LOL!
I have all the components of CRANK, But NO
CRANK!
Over a broken Alt Belt?
Someone please help me figure this out.
Its GOT to be something relatively STUPID simple
that Im missing here!
