Check out Actron scanners. I bought one, a little nicer one tho, for $250 that can read OBDII codes, which started in 1996 on up to present day, and can read OBD1 codes also. OBD1 computers are from 1995 on back to when they started putting computers in cars. So if you get a scanner to read both OBD1 & 2 codes, you won't be stuck. You could use it on newer vehicles then. I just love Mine...
Which model number? There are many at a reasonable price range. I saw one on ebay cp9680 made by actron for 80$- 155 but not sure if its compatible for a 95
You want the Elite 9690 model. That will read the OBD1 & OBDII trouble codes. Any others under this model will not read the OBD1 trouble codes. E-Bay is a good place to look for one as people either don't like it and get something else. Bosch is another niece scanner to research. Hear is a sight on the Actron 9690...... www.actron.com/content/elite-autoscanner-kit-enhanced-obd-i-and-obd-ii-scan-tool
Ok great! Thanks for all your help bro! Its been a good solid 6 mo ths in searching getting tail spun and mainly I DON'T KNOW!! Good to find a person who does know what to find!!! Thanks a million rowefast
You bet, I should let you know on the Actron, it takes some getting to know it, in how to get around in it. For me, and for what this thing does and the information it gives you is soooo cool. A lot of complaints on that one was how to get around and use it. But after using it for a while, then it all comes together. Just have to play with it and hit the buttons to see what they do.
LoL hey just like any new cell phone! It has so many functions bells and whistles And or like my new GF! Except if i hit the wromg button....im sleepimg on the couch lmao xD
Also with the Actron CP9690 Elite comes with a carrying case and all the different cables for the different model cars. Here is another good sight on this, even has a video... http://www.zentiz.com/actron-cp9690-trilingual-obd-iobd-ii-elite-autoscanner-pro-kit-review
Well it seems i have hit another wall. Actron company gives me a list of manufacturer 's but wont conferm that mitsubishi is one of them? But in their list is does state foreign models from 94-95 and Chrysler is the closest to dodge stealth bit is it same as Mitsubishi?
Gonna have to do some research. If you can post a picture of your ALDL connector, that would help, I could look in my kit.
Ok, looked in my kit and it did not come with a connector for your vehicle. Still post a picture if you could tho, of it. I also researched on how to retrieve trouble codes from your vehicle as it is done similar with Chevy OBD1 computers, so half way down this page on this link will tell you how to do this... http://www.evoscan.com/technical-vehicle-manuals/12-mitsubishi-diagnostics
Here is piits the same illustration as in the link you sent. Me A trapaziod with rounded corners
That looks like a OBDII connector.
Thats what i thought too! But obd ll only dates back to 1996? Why did 1995 get cut? I think that year was the best for all makes and models. I had a 95 nissan 240 and a small pick up and nokw this 3000 gt...for the standard maintance these vehicles i think are best year made from foreign company's
You know what I would do? Is to go to an auto parts store and ask them to scan your car for trouble codes. If they ask the year tell them a 1996. They have the OBDII connector for their scanners. At this point the Actron would plug into your ALDL.
I wemnt to a mitsunishi specialist and their obd only scans back to 2006 The mech said i have odb l? Auto parts store dont know anything like ebay sellers I have a personal friend thats a ase mech and he tried both, didnt work prolly his scan tool was obsolete from that year idk wild guess
Well, I don't know what to tell ya for your vehicle. Everything I look up shows a different ALDL than what is in your vehicle. The one in your vehicle is an OBDII ALDL.
I believe you over that mech at Mitsubishi. And google conferms i have obd ll aswell but its confusing since the over tne counter obd are dated back to only 1996..and obd l are 91-95 some where some one screwed up something
Look at the manufacture date of the car, it may be close to 1996 and have 1996 parts in it. You could find the engine numbers and run those to see what year the block applies to. In researching your car, & OBD computers, I did see an overlap in years depending on the sight you look at. If you post your vin number I can run it to see what it says also.
It doesn't show too much...VIN: JA3AM84J6SY021576 Model: 3000GT Make (Manufacturer): Mitsubishi Model year: 1995 Manufactured in: Japan (Asia) Sequential number: 021576 Vehicle & Owner Records Full VIN Report Vehicle History Report Body style: HATCHBACK 2-DR Brake - front: Disc Brake - rear: Disc Brake system: Non-ABS Consumption in the city: 18 miles/gallon / 13.1 liters/100 km Consumption on the highway: 24 miles/gallon / 9.8 liters/100 km Curb weight: 3252 lbs / 1478.2 kg Driveline: FWD Engine type: 3.0L V6 DOHC 24V Fuel tank: 19.80 gallon / 75.0 liter Overall height: 49.00 in / 124.5 cm Overall length: 179.70 in / 456.4 cm Overall width: 72.40 in / 183.9 cm Standard seating: 4 Steering Type: R&P Tires: 225/55R16 Trim level: Base Turning Diameter: 37.40 in / 95.0 cm Wheelbase: 97.20 in / 246.9 cm
One possibility would be that who ever owned the car before you put a newer engine and transmission in there and changed out the computer to run that engine. Checking the engine number would help to find out.
Yeah all that will show is basic specs of vehicle I just looked up my old mercedes 84 lol it got junked
Hey do you know of a site that cen provide wire color codes for my car? All i seem to fimd is wiring diagrams and thats no help cause its in black and white I need to figure out what wires supply the head lights. I did a convertion from my 95 and swaped it over to the 91 look and the pop up lights are different so i need to add on a wire supply or steal one power source and use it from a push button switch and or also the main flip switch from the steering column Also too the driver side door works but passenger doesnt work the power lock from passenger side nor does the speaker works on just that side. Im guessing the wires in the din plug are not lined up from 91 to 95 i have to reconfigure the connectors to make them work. But everything else seems to be workinng fine.
Not asking much are you? LoL!
Can you come and fix it for me too prudy please? LoL no but i got the light to pop up but i had to use it on the high beam side of the switch. And its annoying to sit there and wait for the motors to sync up to open fully and close flush with hood. I am pretty good at afro engineering but when it comes to more complex stuff i dont wana fry my harness like i did to my 84 fire bird. Instant flash fire poof!!
I ordered a timer relay for the two head light since the motors dont operate at same speed one is slower or faster than the other. Plus too i wana make ome do a wink wink dounle pop up just for shits N giggles
And he doesn't want much either, LOL...
You know what funny is when i type in words like ....95 mitsubishi 3000 gt wiring diagram for headlight i would thinkit be that/simple? But Nnooooooo, its more compolex and More research so eventually i found from forums that 3 sx and links that send you to onther web sites i found the wire diagram only in B/W..and that was hours of searching lol
Finding out technical issues was simple thats how i foumd out my IAC AND PTU was bad from others on utube and forums. And now in cargurus i can inform my fellow 3K gt what my symptoms where and where to find that issue to solve them since the obd scan tool is a myth ?
I would still try going around to different places to see if there scanner can pick up any trouble codes, since the plugin, ALDL is for OBDII. You plan on keeping this car?
Yes i like this style and i did a lot of work doing the front clip change over! So even more a deffinate YES I had the 91 but was a lemon blown head gasket and tnought i could fix it but more oarts i spent the worse i realized i dont have a clue how to dial in the compouter without a obd scaner So after 1000$ in parts later i bought this one for a 1000$ and it came with a nice lil dent in the passenger side front end So once i got ambitious enough i did the swap over. But this one has same issues head gasket is !eaking coolant and burn oil too. Seems like a common issue with these cars.
So i talkee to another mech..he said that lond as the connection ports are made equal and it is a OBDl&ll trilingual it will work with Chrysler's data support on tha actron 9690. Had to pull that info out of him ? Acted like it was a secret or something? But anyways thanks for all your help bro! Your leads gave me more to research on and to find a good price! 150 and up.
Got your message. Let me know on your adventures...
Yes 94 and 95 s are the hybrids of the 3000gt and stealth world. Neither obd1 or obd2 readers will work
http://www.us3s.org/freeforum/showthread.php?t=3292 Check this out. It will explain how you can easily gets your codes your self.
Dandy I just talked to you today lol AMD how about them IRIDIUMS? lmao
My car tops out at 120? So why the heck does the speed ometer read 180? To tease you. I don'tthink there is a governor? Is there??
Lol. That's way to funny. Some one put a vr4 one in there. Yours should read 160. Only 120. Hmm you have issues. Sons sl will easily get in the 140-150 range.
Well as best I remember. When we are out playing all he sees is my tail lights. Lol. Twin turbo is the only way to go for me any more. You ever drive one and you will have to start you another build.
Idk why it tops at 120 slowly? I wonder if the transmission sensor has anything to do with it?
Yours auto or manual transmission? I can't remember.
Oh and BTW if any poster readers outthere iiridium's has to be gapped .50 or more or they dont work right. I gapped mine at .38 ran like shit. Pulled it apart re gapped em at .52 problem solved!
Manual man! Auto for sissys who can't shift ...lol double clutch and granny shifters haha xD
Just ask son and he says he is shifting out of fourth around 115 - 120 range. Slow climb from there but it goes on up to around 150 but takes a while to get there.
Lol. I got three ten lbs nos bottles for sale. I got to make a trip down there and take you for a ride. The difference in these cars is like night and day.
My friend has a BMW TT that thing is sick! It can roast the tires at 50!!
