Buying a car with an engine turbos and tranny out

Asked by Sodastream11 Apr 12, 2020 at 03:36 AM about the 1992 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Turbo AWD

Question type: General

I really want a 1992 vr4 and this guy has one with a new engine, turbos, and
tranny. The thing is they're not put in the car. So I'm wondering how hard it
would be to put it all back in. I'm willing to put in the work and learn a thing or
two but what would be the main issue or complications I might run into?

Hard to say, How handy are you and have you ever owned a 3000GT that you are familiar with it? Do you have a lot of time and money on your hands? Are the parts factory? Anything custom? Willing to deal with frustration, checking 3000GT forums, and mechanics for advise? I see a lot of time, people get frustrated and the project take so long they lose interest in it and it never gets done. Just some things to think about.

Usually when a seller sells a car with uninstalled parts it's because they ran into a problem that requires more expensive parts.

Picking up where someone else left off is never a good idea. Unless you know the person and the vehicle. People usually don't just give up on a project without a good reason! Personally I'd pass on it! Hope that helps! Jim
