Intermittent no lights or start - 2019 Altima
Asked by Dave Jul 04, 2020 at 12:36 AM about the 2019 Nissan Altima 2.5 SR FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Sometimes my Altima will have no lights and
will be dead when I enter car and will not
start without a jump.
Lost total power while driving on one
occasion.
Nissan replaced break light switch but same
issue with no start the very next day. Now
Nissan says may be wiring harness but it isn’t
under warranty because of the car’s history
or previous repair.
Apparently battery and alternator tested
good.
Any ideas what to check or replace?

A catastrophic failure such as a completely dead vehicle is going to be battery related. Check the wiring coming from the battery. Make sure the battery cable connections are clean and tight at both ends and check the wiring down by the starter. Same deal, everything should be clean and tight. Why won't Nissan honor the warranty? Hope that helps! Jim
Hi Jim, I'll give that a check, thanks! Nissan says the car was in before and was rejected due to a non-authorized Nissan repair job done to the vehicle. They say the car was damaged or in a small crash of some type.
You're welcome. Glad to help! Well that stinks!! Have you tried contacting Nissan Customer Service for a second opinion on the warranty rejection? Some Dealers hate doing warranty work and will try anything to get out of it. My local Chevrolet Dealer is like that!! Hope that helps! Jim
Just tightened the negative terminal connection. It was pretty loose. Fingers crossed.
Did you buy a car with a branded title or a Lemon car?
Sounds like you found the problem! That'll definitely do it!! Fingers are crossed here too!! Thanks for letting us know! Jim
F_O_R The carfax shows a clean title. I suspect the car sustained minor damage and wasn’t reported.
