Can i by a shorter belt to bypass the compressor on a 05 altima

A shorter belt and skipping the A/C can throw off the routing of the belt and possibly put a ribbed side of the belt on an smooth-sided idler and the opposite, put the smooth side where the ribbed side should be. It's better - if you want to save the expense of replacing the compressor or clutch to get an idler and use same belt

$40 --- less expensive than another belt and NAPA or most any parts store will have it. Just will take some work.. couple hours
Wouldn't work anyway. A shorter belt would interfere with other pulleys
ford nut is on the right track...but whats wrong with it the ac clutch or the compressor???if its just the clutch the are not expensive and might just be better to repir it and dont mess with the cost of a belt ! and then you will still have a working ac ....
Kelly is right... you will spend time and money and not have A/C when for just a little more you can fix the problem
