Yes the forester is definitely under warranty. I am trying to do research to see if this is a common issue or perhaps a TSB covering this problem. The issue is intermittent and only occurs when cruise is engaged.

This sounds like a CVT problem alright. Since this is a 19 there have not been a lot of complaints here .....................yet. It is a Subaru so who knows what will pop up in the next few years.

I am experiencing a "shudder" in my 2019 Forester from time to time. it happens when gently accelerating, at highway speed, with the cruise control on and off. it feels herky jerky, like the transmission is losing its grip while the engine revs up slightly... my car is at the dealership right now, and they could not reproduce this today. they did have to update the radio/touchscreen system, and have to replace then driver seat frame due to bad welds, but that part wont be in for three days. they are going to drive it more again tomorrow to check for this shuddering thing it does. i am pretty annoyed...it started doing this right at 6000 miles, immediately after its first oil change. i haven't found much about this after doing numerous and lengthy searches on various forums....

Try setting the eyesight acceleration chacteristics to narmal or adaptive. This should also program the cvt and map the accelerate.

I tried changing eyesight to every combination available. Tried shifting using the paddles and changed the throttle mapping from intuitive to sport and every combination of all these settings and nothing changes. The frustrating part is the shutter is intermittent. The problem may be consistent for a couple of days and then not occur for a week. My dealer is supportive in trying to resolve the problem, they reprogrammed the CVT back to factory specs and it seemed to work correctly for a few day and then the shudder returned. Not sure if the reprogramming helped or it was just a period that that it worked normally. The severity of the shudder changes as well. Sometimes it Is so severe it almost feels like the vehicle is running out of gas and then it will change to a minor hesitation. Very frustrating trying to find the cause when the issues is so intermittent

I picked my Forester up today from the shop, and was told that this is apparently a "known issue" and Subaru us supposed to be putting out an update to correct it, but no ETA is known for the update....which sucks! It happens with the cruise control.....so, at least it isn't the transmission....

We have a 2019 we bought past fall and it is experiencing the same problem. I called the dealer and they thought it might be a software problem since it is intermittent. It needs to be fixed by Subaru or I'm selling it and giving them a bad wrap to anyone that asks how I like Subaru.

I am on my 3rd transmission on a 2019. The original failed at 7k, the replacement failed at 19k. The current one is already experiencing the preliminary problems that the others did. First one made a rotational WAH WAH WAH noise (like a dying power steering fluid pump) at low speeds during acceleration, and the transition between where 2nd and 3rd would be was really jerky. After 25mph engine noise completely masked the sound. Since it was coming from within the transmission they just replaced it and said it was a suspected slipping variator chain. The second one just seemed to struggle from the onset. Lots of noise, not a lot of power behind it. About 8k in it started making really intermittent noises like shaking a can full of rocks while accelerating. Never when I had it at the dealership tho and they said everything looked and sounded fine. Finally after 4k miles of intermittent nonsense it became ongoing and they found metal shards in the transmission fluid. The current one has been in for about 2500 miles and started making the can full of rocks noise today. And last week when I was getting on the freeway (in sport mode) on an incline, i basically lost acceleration for a whole gear. RPMs kept rising and were near redlining but speed was rapidly falling. Then it kicked into a different gear, the hill leveled out, and all seemed normal except for the smell of very hot transmission fluid. I was not using the paddle shifters, nor was I in a manual shifting mode. It was in regular drive, just in sport mode. Getting it checked out this week. Also, subaru has been clear that even though this is its 3rd transmission, they are not doing any kind of warranty extension on the transmission. So, I have been equally clear that when this one fails I will be taking legal action. Which is a crappy position, but we have multiple Subarus and both of our 2019s (Forester and WRX) have had NUMEROUS problems. So disappointed.

I have the 2019 sport and I’m having the same issue. I have brought it in to 3 different dealers and none are able to duplicate the issue and nothing has fixed it. Have you had any luck on what to do? Really love the car but the jerking on the highway is really frustrating and worried my warranty is coming to an end and I’ll have to pay out of pocket. Also don’t want to trade it in and take the hit on a brand new vehicle...

My 2019 Subaru Sport developed a shutter / jerk that occured while going up slight inclines. This happened right after an oil change at a tire store. Turns out the tech drained the CVT fluid and did not tell anyone. I suggest having the CVT fluid level checked at the dealer (no more didsticks on these newer carrs). A transmission flush / refill took care of my problem and the tire store took care of the $400. bill.
