2020 Equinox ESC SERVICE Light
Asked by GuruK9N7J Nov 30, 2019 at 11:45 AM about the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox 1.5T Premier AWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
1 week after buy this car the ESC SERVICE light came on. I took it back to the dealer, but the light went off and they could not find out what was wrong. Now it's back in for the same thing (light went off again) so they don't know what's wrong...Again. Any idea's what's going on and how do I get it fixed. Car is 1 month old with 1,500 miles on it.

My new 2020 Equinox did the same. Out of curiosity I pressed the AWD button to take out of AWD, drive it literally 2 blocks and now the "Sevice ESC" error message is no longer showing!
My ESC Service light came on too, a week after buying it brand new. It went off a little bit later. But now a month later they came back on for a day, and my lane departure assist does not work. I called the dealer and they said "sometimes that happens from moisture". Not sure what to do.
2020 Equinox with 1400 Miles, Service ECS message Lane keep assist not working Traction Off Light - on Stabilitrack Off - on Service Electroninc parking - on Have appointment at dealer tomorrow, will update after that.

My ESC error in 2020 Equinox seemed like it fixed itself also...now a month later, it shows "ENGINE POWER REDUCED."(By the way, this car only has 2,350 miles on it) Drove slowly into dealership today. They said there was a recall on my car. They did 2 updates on the onboard computer. Seems to be running fine again. I will post with any ongoing info as this saga, if it continues. Hope this helps anyone with similar issues with the brand new Equinox.
mine just came on too - 2020 Equinox 1200 KMS. 3 weeks until it can be seen. Dealership said it has to do with the -36 and moisture in the air. :(
Well I had the same error and low and behold found that I was not receiving my OnStar service connection at the same time. When the OnStar signal came back up, the error code went away. Easy way to tell is your OnStar signal is not working is that your Adaptive Cruise Control will not work either. This could be the same reason several of you said it resolved it self on its own. Not a bad car, just finicky.
Mine did the same and I took it to them. I am being told there is a recall on it and they had to recode it. I have not picked the car up yet. Just got fixed today
So my brand new less than 1200 miles did this yesterday. It is at the dealer now. If this happens again i will be reaching out to a lawyer...I havent even paid a car note yet, its due in 15 days....THIS IS RIDICULOUS

https://photos.app.goo.gl/ic95TTZRG5cj7L7X8 This started to happen plus numerous other service items scrolling on my 2020 equinox with 155 miles on the clock. Have had it to the dealer several times. They have changed the gateway module and the instrument cluster. Now they are waiting on a field engineer to show up.

Mine came on while I was driving and I was trying to figure out what it meant so I started pushing buttons (smart I know lol) and when I pushed the emergency brake button that made the message "emergency brake released" pop up. Now I noticed when it happened again it turned out yet again my emergency brake was on while I was driving.
This is happening to my 2020 Traverse. It started a few months after i purchased it. When Im idling at a light and the engine shuts off, if i let me my foot off the brake and the engine starts back up, SERVICE ESC pops up on my screen and it dings. Its been in the shop 3 times now and they cant figure out whats wrong with it.

I have 2020 Equinox with 22k miles equipped with the safety package. Just purchased from the dealer last weekend. The condition presented itself while under hard acceleration and making multiple lane changes on the freeway. I eventually settled on a single lane and continued to drive normally. The engine light turned off but the ABS and Traction control light stayed illuminated. The Conditions were cold, wet, light snow, and possible icy road conditions. upon exiting the freeway and coming to a traffic light, I cycled the ignition and the system seemed to have correct itself as the system returned to normal operation. At no point did the vehicle become unstable or difficult to drive. Upon reaching my destination I proceeded to contact Onstar for a diagnostic check. No Failure codes were stored in the system. This clearly a software glitch and likely a known issue still under investigation. Follow the process if the system shuts down like that again... Get somewhere safe, Cycle the ignition and the issue should correct itself. The only exception to this is if the lights remain on.
