2002 Nisan maxima gle

Car died I jump started it it ran for a couple of miles towed home.next day I bought new
battery stared right up check engine light came on took it to advanced auto the code was
the fuel gauge sensor. Drove for 3 days now dead again. Any suggestions before I take
to the garage? Would that drain the battery? Please help

Have the alternator tested. It sounds like it is not charging, or if it is, it's not sufficient enough to keep the battery charged as the regulator could be bad.

That could explain why when you put a new battery in, the vehicle ran for 3 days. The batteries are typically have a charge in them on the shelf. 3 days of use ran the battery dead. The fuel gauge code could be a result of low voltage in the system. The ECU is possibly detecting problems that do not actually exist due to insufficient voltage.

If it's possible for you to remove it or know someone who can. Bring the alternator to an auto parts store and they can test it on the bench there. Some auto parts stores can test it right in the vehicle so you may want to call ahead and find out what procedure they use for testing. If not, the only option is to get it to a shop where they could test it which would probably involve cost where the auto parts stores typically test free of charge. Hope this helps..

OR! Just use a multi-meter... Kinda dangerous considering you're putting wires near a belt that could catch on them...
