Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My Car's remote is not working, one day it was locked and I opened with key and its alarm is on, then I unplugged the battery to stop the alarm. It's been a week. I can use my car untill I disable the alarm.
Does any one know how to disable the alarm.
I greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks,

Have you tried starting the car when the alarm is going off? Mine was set off like the same way, and couldn't figure out, and by the time I was going to try and start the car to see if it would go off then, it went off.....what a coincidence. LOL! You may try locking your doors and using the key when you unlock them. It should disarm the alarm. Well, it does on the newer ones, like mine.
You can disable the alarm (which is the horn) by opening the hood, on the left front side is a box and there are plugs marked horn 1 and horn2, pull both of them out. I have a 97 maxima and the alarms kept going off randomly when the car was locked and parked. Or you can NOT lock your car.
disconnect the battery lock the door connect the battery unlock the door using your key start the car that's it

Try this, first make sure the battery is disconnected. Then turn the ignition to the run position. Then reconnect the battery. that should work.
This is an old trick. When the alarm goes off, put the key into the keyhole on the drivers door and turn it. This works everytime.

Rtriel and Errol are right! We tried it and it worked the first time. Like they said, just disconnect the battery, lock all the doors. Connect the battery and when the alarm goes off, use the key to unlock the driver's side door. Voila!
95 nissan maxima lost keys new ign assy car cranks but dont start is it possible to recde ign my self
I dont have the key to the door but i got it for the ign but my car wont start what do i do
Thts my problem any suggestions
None of these solutions work for me. My ignition is locked out, and the car will not start. Normally, when you lock the vehicle, the dash security light blinks. When I lock my vehicle, the security light does not blink until I unlock and open the door. That sets off the alarm and the security light starts blinking. When I disconnect the battery, the alarm stops. When I reconnect the battery, the alarm does not start until I open a door OR when I turn the trunk lock ( but not open the trunk) .
Radbrad disconnect the battery take out the horn fuse then connect the battery it should work I had the same problem. This resets the alarm. Hope it works. You can then put the horn fuse back but if it goes off when you put it back then there's something wrong with your alarm.
My drivers side lock is messed up, so I called triple aaa to unlock my door and that's what set off my alarm, what can I do to deactivate my factory alarm?
My drivers side lock is messed up, so I called triple aaa to unlock my door and that's what set off my alarm, what can I do to deactivate my factory alarm? My car is a 4 door honda accord 2004
Disconnect battery , take out anti-theft fuse on the passenger side fuse block, take off the driver side door panel, then reach in the door añd take off the 2 nuts , holdiñg the door handle on. Take the door cylinder out, take the tumblers out of the lock cylinder. Put the cylinder back together. Put it back in the door and reassemble the lock and handle. Put the door cover back on,with the switches. Put anti-theft fuse back in, reconnect the battery unlock the car door ,put key in ignitioñ and car should start and alarm should not come on.
What if the key lock on the driver's side door is broken and u can't turn the key in the door? Then what do you do?
Remove negative battery terminal, turn key and hold in start position and have someone replace the negative terminal. Just worked in a 1998 Nissan Altima GLE!
@Wylden: Holding the cable while the starter is engaged sounds like a good job for the wifey .She gets an instant perm. *o*
My door lights, security light and my horn wouldn't work at all. The car won't start either so how do I get the car to start. 97 Infiniti i30
Well i own a nissan altima. My car alarm is kinda the same. It needs to be unlocked with the key fob or key to disengage the alarm. But if you mistakenly set the alarm off and your key fob wont disengage it it could mean your key fob is not programmed to your car correctly, or you have the wrong key fob for your car. All key fobs are different on each car. If you dont have a the key fob in correctly. Get in the car on the drivers side, close all doors and lock the car with the power lock switch on the door panel. Then insert the key in the ignition cylinder and out six times within 10 seconds. Dont go to fast when inserting it and taking it out. Then if done successfully your hazardous lights turn on, wait five seconds, now insert your keyand turn to a/c then pish any button on the key fob and wait 10 seconds. The unlock doors and test the key fob. If you set it off and you dont have a key fob or lost it. Lock the doors with the power lock switch, insert the key in the drivers door, turn left, then right to disarm and reset it.
Also if your alarm was set by your key the your blue and white wire that connects to your alarm and your door is messed up
why. does my security light blink

We have a 98 maxima that we are making a HotShot dirt track car out of. The car was running perfect until we striped the door panels and cut the lock wires and so on. Now the security light is staying on and it's like the car is I'm lymp mode. Car won't go over about 40 mph. Any ideas?
the 99 maxima horn (in front of the radiator) mounting bracket had broken (ground), Cleaned it up and bolted to chasis and security light turned off and car started.
Have a 2008 rouge the seat belt buckle got hung up in the door when shut put a ding where the switch is. The switch would would work but would pop out a little diffrent times of the night and set the alarm off. I just glued a quarter in the spot where the switch hits and problem solved

I have a 97 Maxima also, I unlocked it with key and the alarm went off. I disconnected the battery hoping it would reset alarm relay but it did not. It won't allow me to crank it due to the alarm being set off. I tried turning the key twice to the left and twice to the right- it didn't work. What now?
How do I disconnect my anti theft alarm on my 2009 Nissan Altima

Im having the same issue as Oregongirl in my 2002 maxima. Car had a weak battery so i used to take of the negative cable when it parked. One day i put the lead on and opened the door and my headlights accompanied by a few others started blinking letting me kno my alarm is going off but no horn. So i tried putting the key in door trick of course...didnt work..took off battery lead waited put them back on car still going off So i tried starting it and it started with no problem but the headlights and everything kept blinking ...now the car used to have a viper alarm i believe but i had it taken out when it kept losing programming leaving me stuck at work a couple times...but now i believe its the factory alarm im fighting with. Sometimes it doesnt happen or maybe in my squabbles im deactivating it but resetting it when i take off the lead? I do have a new battery but doing electrical work on the car, ive been taking off the negative to work, and now i think of it thats when this issues pops up when i start messing with the lead .. oh and yes sometimes the trunk wont open around the time the alarm gives trouble... so maybe i am deactivating and resetting it but more info always helps
Update: This is hilarious, buuut my alarm was set off three times (one time WHILE it was running) and the trunk wpuld not open BUT the very next day... It was like I had dreamed the while thing. I tried to recreate the scenarios for my sister- in-law because she's my "car guy," and the MFer worked normally, not making a sound and opening, and no reading from the computer. Battery good, fuses good. My car is TRIPPIN!
I'm having the same issue that ClutchGamer is having, only its with my '99 Nissan Altima. Has anyone figured out how to fix this issue yet?

To deactivate the cars alarm just open the trunk with the key.
If unhooking the positive and rebooking whilst the ignition is ingaged doesn’t work unhooking the negative should do it . I had to take it off and put it back on 2 or 3 times and it worked like a champ.
I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier. It suddenly was disabled by the security system, panel lights came on but no crank. Jumping it did nothing, battery was fully charged. Disconnected the small red wire (security of some sort I believe) to the positive, it started but only by jumping even though the battery was fine. Spent some time reading and thinking. I then looked at my key (no fob), it was cracked on two sides. Used my spare key and everything works fine again. Hooked the red wire back up. All runs. Can only guess it was a key wearing out so have a good at that first!
Nissan maxima factory alarms have a reset switch iopen trunk oinside on trumk lid there is a opening reach in there and there and it disarms alarm! No one will tell you this!
I have a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder I found out the hard way that sometimes you may mistakenly use the door key instead of the ignition key to try to start it. It will turn over and not start . Just remove the key wait a couple minutes and use the right key problem solved
I had this issue and it turned out the previous owner broke the key off in the door. I was at a gas station after work on the way home, way out of town, and when i got back in i reached inside the open window to unlock the driver door and get in. My alarm started going off and i quickly unplugged the horns in the grill and pushed it off the pump. I took the door panel off, unscrewed the nut inside the door and pulled out the key cylinder. Fished out the previous broken key with a coat hanger, put it back together and from that day on i was able to finally lock my doors with the key.
The 1996 Nissan Maxima can be opened from the passenger side to disarm the anti theft alarm.
