When driving on urban roads at 30 - 40 MPH the car seems like the gears are
skipping pausing for a 2-3 seconds.
When we turn off the car about 10-15 seconds later we hear a sound like the
engine is exhaling, with a gurgle in the middle. This last for 10 - 15 seconds
That's what they have warranties for take it to the dealer and ask them.

There are no "gears" (to be) "skipping", but maybe you have an errant CVT? Likewise "engine is exhaling, with a gurgle in the middle" is hopelessly nondescript, so indeed, get an outside pro opinion.
