Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero the trunk won't
pop open, the radio has the red security light on
and says locked on the radio, it will crank and run
for 2 to 3 seconds then shut off all dash lights stay
on if I sprayed starter fluid in the mass air flow it
will run what's wrong with it? I have put new fuel
pump and new fuel filter and I got 40 pounds of
fuel pressure

Sounds like the body control module is bad. With the trunk release and no pulse from the fuel injectors that would be the first thing I'd check. The radio will lock anytime it loses power. Unless you disabled the Theft loc feature before you disconnected the battery. The PCM must receive a fuel enable signal from the body control module (BCM) or the fuel injectors won't pulse. Pressing the trunk release button sends a trunk release request signal to the BCM. The BCM then pops the trunk. If it is the BCM it needs to be programmed on the vehicle at a shop. It's not plug and play! Hope that helps! Jim
