i hav a 96 ranger, 2.3 L. for a 1 yr. now it has been in shop several times for same problem & not gettn fixed. my #3 & 4 plug are miss firing at initial start & back fire until it warms up than ok.

Had all plugs, wires replcd, coils were ok. Had fuel pump, egr valve & 2 sensors replcd recently. Uses 1/2 qrt. Oil every other wk But does not blow oil & no oil leak nor blow steam. Has been to 2 Ford dealers & 3 mechanics & no one can fig. Out the problem. I'm orginal owner & has had reg. Oil changes & maintenance free its life til now.
