AC noises

Asked by skeelon Aug 19, 2011 at 10:56 PM about the 2005 Pontiac G6 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 05 G6 makes this clicking noise that comes from in the dash and behind the glove box whenever the AC is on. whenever I use the recycle/recirculate air button, the noise stops. any ideas what the problem is? and maybe an estimate on cost if possible? thanks.

Probably sounds like its coming from inside but check by standing outside the car. It sounds to me like it is coming from your AC compressor when it cycles on and off. Typically not a problem - just annoying. Good luck.

It also happened to me, it made like a tapping noise and whenever I pressed the same recirculate air button it stopped. I'm pretty sure it's inside the car because I checked the engine and everything seemed normal. Anyone know what it might be?

It's the Recirculate Door Module; or actuator motor. I just had mine fixed for $90.00. My own mechanic did the job, not the dealership which would have been far more.
