I put my car in drive while going in reverse,the car shut off and remained stuck in drive,did I break it

my 2000 Pontiac Montana,i believe I may have broken my gearshift cable by putting it in drive without coming to a complete stop.it want  crank,it is stuck in drive.

The car will not start in gear. You will have to bypass the shift knob and get the trans into neutral or park.
