Tailight/Brake light lens obstruction?

Asked by Steven Mar 04, 2019 at 06:20 AM about the 1999 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On my 99' Base model, at night, the
left taillight lense appears darker
than the right side, so much so that
I've been stopped twice to inform me
of a bulb out(ostensibly, ....) I've
replaced the bulbs, matching them to
the right side, removed and cleaned
the inside of the lease, had Autozone
look at it, (head scratch, hmm?..) And
the left side STILL appears to have a
malfunction, when you stand back at
any distance at night. Anybody??

The lens may have been replaced over the years and the one installed was manufactured darker than the other. Since you have tried electrical solutions (correct bulbs, good power and ground connections, etc) try a different lens.
