Ls1 supercharged or LS3 stock

Asked by 98ta Jul 31, 2016 at 12:37 PM about the 1998 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Question type: Car Customization

My question is I have a 98 Trans Am with an LS1
with 220000 miles and the last hundred and twenty
thousand miles I put on it. engines is still in great
shape but I believe that #3 valve is getting ready to
drop so my question is do I rebuild the LS1 with
forged internals and put a 6-speed behind it with a
supercharger  or get a stock LS3 with the 6-speed.
I already have the LS1 block so I don't have to go
and buy a block. I could just rebuild that one or I'll
have to kick out the cost to buy an LS3 block and
most likely I'm not going to be able to afford a new
one so I'll have to get between 40 and 60000 mile
one. I think it's cheaper to build LS1 but I also know
that I'll have so much more of a motor with the LS3
Fare as horsepower when I'm finished I want
between 500 + 550 to the rear wheels but no less
than 500 what is yall's opinion

How can the engine be in great shape with the #3 valve ready to drop? What makes you think there is an issue with the #3 valve?
