Asked by Amanda Jul 27, 2011 at 12:21 PM about the 1997 Pontiac Firebird Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The passenger side headlight will not come up.  The lights have been making a growling noise
for some time.  How do I fix this? Is there an article I can read for this?

Been through this on my 1997 TransAm. Replaced the motors, the switch. Found out that it is the headlight module that everything plugs into. Drivers side near the headlight with the engine compartment. Simply unplug and plug back in and it will come up.

Don't waste your time replacing the gears. If your headlights grind after shutting them off, the plastic gears are going out. If your headlight does not come up, you have a issue with the headlight module.
