Hi, I have a 2000 Lexus ES 300. Brakes

Asked by Catina Mar 26, 2019 at 09:06 PM about the 2000 Lexus ES 300 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving and the brakes got hard. I made it home safely, I was told to
replace brake check valve first. After that I bled the brakes and fluid ran through
the lines, but still didn't work. I then replaced the brake booster and master
cylinder. Bled the brakes again and it was driving fine all of a sudden the car
started losing speed and the brakes locked up. I had noticed the right front
caliper had locked up. I then replaced the caliper. Still doing the same thing.
Drive for about a mile and gradually lose speed and won't drive anymore.

Replace the rubber lines going to the calipers. They have a tendency to degrade from the inside out and collapse over time. It allows the fluid go into the caliper but comes out slowly. Check the condition of the brake fluid. If it's not clean and clear, flush system and replace with manufacturer recommended Dot fluid. Good luck

I was having the exact issue. I could have submitted word for word what Catina wrote. I also replaced the brake hoses. And am still have the same problem. Car drives normal for half a mile and then loses speed, can’t accelerate, and the brakes begin to lock up. Anyone have any ideas?!
