saab transmission replacement

Asked by ampalina Jan 01, 2009 at 09:47 PM about the 1990 Saab 900 2 Dr Turbo Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

is it worth it to replace the transmission for $2000 (used trans & labour).  Car has 105k, strong engine and good
clutch. Air conditioning does not work, electronic door locks broken, Saggy headliner,  body in great shape. Always
garage kept. Was very zippy and handled well until the transmission burst. Split transmission pan. Should I sell it as
is? How much?

It's not worth it to pay some one to fix that one for you but if you do still love the car it might be time to learn a bit and do it your self. If you sell it I would recommend starting at $500 and work down form there.

Car is not worth much, I replaced mine. I'm on my fourth but I do the work myself.
