If my timing belt breaks while driving, will it bend the valves?

It depends on how fast the engine was going and luck, At this point your only option is to replace the belt and try to start the car. Good luck
If you have the 2.4 DOHC engine it is not an interference engine and the valves will not be bent. You are very lucky. Replace the belt, tensioner and water pump if it is accessible while doing the timing belt.
Thank you Bob, I live in Mexico, and good factory mechanics are sparce. My mechanic was convinced the valves were bent, until I sugessted changing the belt and doing a compression test. All checked good! Lucky is right!
Most of the time the valves will be bent as most small engines now are of the interference type. You got lucky. I wish you the best of luck with it.
