Mazda 3 breaks soft no pressure
Asked by Earco13 Sep 01, 2018 at 12:08 PM about the 2010 Mazda MAZDA3
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Ive been having trouble with my MAZDA3 2010 for
over a year now. The breaks went soft and I feel no
pressure when breaking. It’ll eventually break but it
doesn’t feel normal at all. I’ve taken in to 4 different
mechanics. The break booster has been changed
twice, the break pump has been changed, roders
have been done as well. Nothing has fixed the
problem. I’ve read online about something wrong
with this type of car with hydraulics and ABS
system. I don’t know what else to do I’m desperté
to find and answer.

I have a similar issue, soft/long pedal and also a soft pewoo whistling noise upon release , I read on another thread to reset the ABS, do 5 or 6 hard brake stops to initiate the ABS, people have said that this seems to have fixed the issue and the yhave a normal pedal again
Me too, same problem. It just did the hard break stops to initiate ABS as suggested above. It helped a little bit. Now break petal travel is somewhere between bad and normal.

Yes, same as me, but i didnt go hard with that test.. anyway we have since traded to a 2015 Mazda 3 GT, also has a slightly soft, slightly mid long peddle, dealer reckons nothing wrong. Works if you need to hit the breaks though.
Austaurean what did you do to fix the spongy pedal and pewoo squeeking noise? I have the exact problem. I replaced the master cylnder and the brake booster and then the brakes were dragging but the squeeking noise and spongy brakes were gone. the brakes were always dragging so i put the old brake booster back in because it was "adjusted" to the master cylender but then i have the same problem with the spongy pedal and the squeeking upon release. replacing the brake booster fixed the problem but created a new one. No abs light has come on ever. What do i do?

Hi GuruJq11Q, we didnt, we just had to be careful, but they worked well if in an emergency stop situation, just not usual stops. We traded the Car rather than spend money on it, and told the dealer about it, the dealer test drove it and we came to a mutually agreeable changeover. The 2015 also has slightly spongy brakes, I have given it to a local dealer twice, but they reckon its just the way they are..
