2011 light problem

Asked by GuruX9Y8M Sep 29, 2018 at 06:46 AM about the 2011 Lincoln MKS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 MKS has no running lights. It has turning and brake lights. Also the
bright lights do not work. Is that a fuse or switch problem.  We took it to
dealership and got a oil change but they said we had to leave it in diagnostic
department before they could help (another 100). We just bought it used. So
brand new to this car — just learning.

Start with the basics. You may have more than one issue. Check the fuses first. The high beams also have a relay under the hood in the power distribution box that could be bad. There are other similar relays, so you can switch them and see if the problem moves to another system. If it does, replace the relay. If all of this checks out good, than start looking at the switch.
