2013 Prius door fob works when the open button is depressed but not automatically when approaching the driver's side door. Any fixes? Dealer says they have to take apart door to check.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The fob which is designed to open driver's side door automatically when near
stopped working on both fobs.  New batteries in fobs did not change things.
Dealer says they have not seen this problem before and would need to take
apart the door to check on it.  Are there any other things to try first?  The fob
does work when you press the unlock button.

Most 2013 Priuses have smart key sensors at the front passengers doo and rear hatch or liftback as well. What trim level is your Prius? Do you know if you have sensors at those locations? Are they working at those locations? If the SKS is working at the other doors, I agree with the dealer. Otherwise it may be that someone accidentally turned SKS off or interference. We've sometimes had trouble if the smart key is deep in a bag, next to a phone or other electronics, or too far from or close to the car door.
