Key fob eats batteries -- will it always start when put close to button?

Key fob goes through batteries in days.  (Toyota Prius).  
The place next to start feature.  Will it work forever or do I have to buy a new
key for $$$$?

What year is your Prius? Did you drop the keyfob in the water? Very often the "Lock" button gets stuck.

If you haven't got your answer by trying it, I'd be surprised. The answer is "Yes." Just curious, why would you ask such a silly question or not read the manual first?

Also, the manual is probably where I'd start first to find out why your Fob batteries are depleting so fast.
