Can a self locking cover (Like the one on the 2013 CMAX Energi) be retrofitted onto a 2016 ESCAPE Titanium prone to gas theft?

Asked by Nancy Sep 10, 2016 at 06:34 PM about the 2016 Ford Escape

Question type: Car Customization

Since FORD is unaware that the fuel can actually be siphoned from the
CAPLESS GAS TANK with the UNLOCKING DOOR, and I cannot afford to
provide fuel for all of Chicago's teenage population, I am in desperate need
of a locking fuel plug.  Since the local  FORD Parts people told me to go
away, and the FORD on-line Customer Service did as well, I am thinking
maybe I could purchase a CMAX fuel door kit and have it installed...  What
say you?  I believe that would be cheaper than having someone do a custom
cover and lock!  Is the form factor/ function, door size/ hinge specs the
same?

Ford does make a locking cap for the fuel spout $30. https://accessories.ford.com/locking-fuel-plug.html
