Heat takes turning from cold to hot and a thump to turn on?

Asked by Nicole Dec 19, 2023 at 11:54 AM about the 2017 GMC Terrain

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have to adjust the temp from low (cold) to high (hot) multiple times before the
vehicle registers that I'm turning the heat on. Usually passing from 65 degrees
to 73 degrees finally makes a thump noise and the heat turns on after that.

Temp sensor was just replaced

The thump is the blend air door coming free from binding, now it could be broken inside the heater box or the servo motor is getting ready to quit working. You need a shop that knows the system to diagnose it correctly.
