My 2002 dodge 1500 is knocking

When my truck is running the engine is
always knocking, and after it's been
running for awhile if I turn it off and come
back to turn it on it doesn't start up rigbt
away. Any ideas?

The knocking sounds like it could be from lack of oil getting to the engine. The reason it won't start right up sometimes I have no clue unless that's a sign of some other problem starting to happen as well.
