Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001 dodge ram v10 has an issue with fuel pump not
working past the pre start mode after it starts I can't get it to
Rev. My truck was stolen and just got it back ignition switch
was broken and I'm having to hot wire it. Am I missing a wire
? By tricking computer sys t em by quickly removing and
replacing hot wire is only way I can get it to Rev.  Just can't
afford new ignition at this point please help at wits end

That sounds like the anti thief system is active, it will allow the engine to start then die due to no fuel delivery. Sorry but the only way to fix it is to replace the damaged components and have the system reprogrammed by the dealer or a very good locksmith. It’s not going to be cheap and you may have trouble getting parts. Now you could try used parts but you will still need a reprogram.
