I have a 2006 9-5. I have a power steering fluid leak in one of the hoses.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I can see power steering fluid all along the bottom of the car on the passenger side.  I am not sure if the leak is coming from the coolant hose or the pressure hose.  Where can I get instructions on trouble shooting and changing one or both of the hoses.

How often does the fluid need to be refilled ... could be the pump seals or even the filler cap

I'm having to refill the fluid or at least add to it every other day...no visible fluid around the pump however, there is visible fluid on the hoses behind the engine on the passenger side

I haven't had this issue since moving south on my '06 9-5, but when I lived in northeast Ohio, the steel pressure hoses would rust out that run along the subframe by the radiator (on my old 97 900). I imagine it's probably a similar issue if you're in the salt belt. If it's anything like it was on my 900, I had to remove the front clip, and a few other things that were in the way. There could be other ways to do it, but that's what I did. I picked up a line from a car at the junk yard as I didn't really want to spend $180 on a new one.
