Owners, manual,or take a picture of it and post it here, then we can tell you what that light may be.
Describe it as well as you can. Meantime I am a member of the Toyota Owners website and can get your owners manual if you don't have one
Pic is excellent idea
Go to http://www.toyota.com/owners/login? ...and register, it is a slow loading website but has everything you will ever need to know about your RAV4
http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM42570U/pdf/01omsour/2005/05rav4om/16.pdf open that. page 109 and 110

Hi Ford Nut, thank you! It's the engine icon. I did register at website but not finding what to do if engine icon is on. I'm trying to get into see a mechanic here but we're approaching Labor Day Weekend! Also, can you help me with this? Light up on dashboard: vsc trac trac off. I read about pressing button on shifter but nothing happened. Any ideas? Thank you! Lisa
The CEL lit, the engine symbol means a fault has been detected somewhere by the OBD. The most common cause is a loose gas cap. You can get an OBD scan from most large parts houses..you will get a code the begins with P followed by four numbers. If you do that, bring the codes back and post them and one of us will be happy to assist with cause and fix./ VSC is vehicle Stability Control...when a wheel speed sensor detects that a wheel is not turning at the correct rpm for the speed you are going, it kicks in and usually re-sets it's self when all wheels are turning as should be...as if you lost traction for even a moment
Also, if the car is running OK, not overheating, no symptoms of anything wrong, it's perfectly fine to drive it this weekend.....unless you are going on a long trip. Myself I avoid travel on these holidays
On page 110 in the manual it says if VSC TRAC light is on, take to dealer. But see if it re-sets it's self first....
